The session, attended by various staff members from USP College, including those from from IT Services, the Marketing team, Digital Learning Technicians and their Creative Arts team. The training focused on the visual and audio aspects of using the immersive theatre space, including the panoramic immersive screen. The Immersive Theatre was officially proudly showcased to stakeholders and the college community, where Dan Pearson, CEO of USP College, offered insights into the facilities and investment at the XTEND Campus.

North Lindsey College Students Dive into Immersive Bricklaying Challenge

North Lindsey College has unveiled its latest investment to digitally transform the learning experience with the installation of their ClassView immersive classroom.

Employers in Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland worked together to identify skills gaps, that led to UK Government funding to support the cross-campus training resource across DN Colleges Group.

Immersive classrooms at North Lindsey and Doncaster Colleges will facilitate collaborative learning, allowing a teacher or specialist to connect with multiple campuses at one time to deliver virtual job experiences, providing students with practical skills and hands-on virtual training.

The classroom was recently put to the test during interactive sessions that involved using the technology in the classroom to help students with teamwork, friendship groups, social interaction and communication skills, whilst fully engaging the facilities to enhance their college experience.

The response to the launch and tour has been overwhelmingly positive, with students and teachers warmly embracing the new spaces as an exciting educational opportunity.

Stacey Blackwell, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award leader who delivered the session, said.

“As part of their program, we have a section of the award where I deliver team building and ice breakers using the new digital technology of the immersive classroom. The feedback from the students was very positive and they were blown away by the screen and having the music throughout too. There is a demand for this type of session and technology for the future.”

Faris Monaghan (19) is a Level 3 Creative Media student and one of the first to experience working in the classroom. Faris said.

“It’s an open clear space with a big screen and cutting-edge technology which has created a special and unique learning environment. It has been an opportunity to help us keep up to date with the latest technology and inspires us to be more creative.

Dan Wilson (Vice Principal of Business, Growth and Partnership) said.

“The project aims to increase the number of employers and learners accessing education to meet the vital needs of the local labour market.”
