Introducing Immersive Classrooms... coming soon to Ashford College!

Immersive Classrooms are the innovative approach to teaching and learning that is set to revolutionize the way our students gain knowledge. With an array of digitally created environments and content that is designed to replicate real-life situations, students can connect with other colleges and master new skills. What's even more exciting is that students can learn simultaneously with other classes, with a tutor in another room or one of the immersive environments on the screens!

Gone are the days of traditional classroom learning, as our Immersive Classroom at Ashford College allows students to learn in a flexible way, with the input and outputs of the lesson created by them. From Virtual Reality and Artificial Reality to 360 Viewpoints and other cutting-edge technologies, learning is sure to get an upgrade.

To ensure that all of our students get the most out of their learning, our Immersive Classroom will be used by all Pathways. Located in room B3.04, it will be available for use once our building works are complete on Phase 2, as our Building Services departments will move over.

So, what exactly are the benefits of an Immersive Classroom? Let's explore them together...

.

Immersive learning is a game-changer for practice-based learning, as it provides an environment that replicates real-life scenarios, allowing students to react the same way they would in the real world. This benefits students studying subjects such as Health and Social Care and Early Years.

An immersive classroom offers a distraction-free learning environment, enabling students to focus on their tasks without being interrupted by mobile phones or boredom. Virtual Reality headsets can also help with this, as they allow the focus to be solely on the work/project.

Our immersive classroom provides a space for students to build practical experience, allowing them to repeat activities and explore different outcomes. This is a great benefit for students on courses such as Engineering, where mistakes in real life could be costly to businesses. Alongside work placements and industry experiences, our immersive classroom will be another place for students to build their practical learning.

Immersive classrooms bring learning to life by captivating students' attention with a variety of interactive experiences. Industry and education have already implemented this technology, as seen in the Natural History Museum’s Hold the World project, where Sir David Attenborough acts as a personal tutor and introduces learners to rarely seen specimens. Furthermore, the immersive classroom offers personalized learning, catering to the individual needs of each student, allowing them to progress at their own pace and create a unique educational experience.
